The Experience of the world (L'Experience Du Monde)
"This is not a book; it is a state of mind" - Jack Kerouac.
The Experience of the World offers a sensitive approach to space, landscape and place.
Adopting a multidisciplinary approach at the crossroads of visual arts, geography and philosophy, the fine art project nourished throughout this book aims to return to the immanence of the first sight, and thereby to reveal the intangible essence of space, landscape and place.
The phenomenological power of photography that is suggested throughout this book contributes to a philosophical revaluation of space, giving meaning to a sensitive, rich and profound experience of the world in all its strangeness.
Arnaud Humbert is a French explorer and art photographer living in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
For more than 20 years, Arnaud’s explorations have taken him on expeditions across some of the world’s most remote and harsh places. From the Antarctic peninsula to the foot of Mount Everest, Arnaud has developed a real spirit of adventure.
Pursuing an approach combining photography and geography of representations, Arnaud experiments processes of deconstruction and reconstruction of the perceptions, allowing the viewer to wonder about his complex relationship to the invisible. Overcoming the veil of familiarity that surrounds the experience of seeing, he offers a new paradigm of visual universes, re-exploring their manifestations, codes and boundaries.
Arnaud is a Member of the Explorers Club (New-York, USA), and a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society (London, UK).
