比亚乔标志性的意大利 Vespa 在印度尼西亚驾车者心中占有特殊的地位。街上能看到的最早版本可以追溯到1960年代，当时印度尼西亚在非洲的维和任务回国，并被政府授予了Vespa自行车。在群岛的许多城市，Vespa 社区蓬勃发展。尽管他们中的大多数人都喜欢经典的 Vespa，但也有一些人通过将原版 Vespa 改造成比亚乔从未想象过的版本，将他们的热情提升到了一个新的水平。

确定极限 Vespa 的早期历史相当困难。它们在 2000 年代初出现，恰逢 1998 年苏哈托独裁政权垮台后印度尼西亚发生的重大变化。政府改革后，印度尼西亚人突然享有比以往更多的自我表达自由。苏哈托下台还标志着执法政策总体上更加宽松，印尼民众不再像以前那样害怕警察。这有助于这种类型的改装车辆在道路上的发展，不仅是Vespa，还有摩托车和汽车。
目前尚不清楚印度尼西亚各地有多少辆极限摩托车。它们的数量可能有数千只，遍布印度尼西亚群岛，甚至在最偏远的地区。其中大多数使用 80 年代末或 90 年代初的 Vespa 发动机，因为它们比早期版本更强大。虽然这些 Vespa 似乎是为了表演而设计的，但它们实际上可以被骑乘。骑它们行驶数千公里是很常见的，尽管它们并不真正适合公路行驶。
