近年来，川内凛子对日常生活节奏的探索开始偏离她早期关注日常生活细节的照片。
在她的系列和最终的著作《Ametsuchi》（Aperture，2013）中，她主要关注日本阿苏山的火山景观，利用神道仪式的历史遗址作为对灵性进行更大探索的锚点。在《光晕》中，川内扩展了这一探究，这次以岛根县出云市南部沿海地区的照片为项目基础，并将它们与中国河北省新年庆祝活动的图像交织在一起——这是一个有着五百年历史的传统。她用铁水代替烟花——以及她对英国布莱顿海岸鸟鸣声的持续着迷。时间的循环、自然和人类仪式的隐含和潜意识模式，在这些页面中令人着迷地编织在一起。
当代日本摄影并不经常关注自然景观；而是关注自然景观。东京看似不断扩张的城市景观在 2011 年之前更多地是人们关注的焦点，在那一刻，自然、公民和其他事物的假定秩序被海啸、地震和人类误判的综合灾难所颠覆。川内最近的作品并不是对自然灾害和非自然后果的评论。然而，这是对更大力量的认可。
