Flowers
Yoshiyuki Okuyama photographed 'flowers' in his late grandmother's home, which he now uses as a studio space. According to an interview by Tokion, Okuyama started his project when florist Megumi Shinozaki of Edenworks asked him to photograph unsold flowers before she threw them away. She wanted to preserve the flowers by taking memorial photographs of them, and this resonated with Okuyama whose grandmother loved arranging and displaying flowers in her home. Okuyama regretted not speaking to his grandmother much when she was alive; but through facing the flowers and clicking the shutter button, Okuyama felt her presence, and his connection and understanding of his grandmother grew.
