1977 年，威廉·埃格尔斯顿 (William Eggleston) 出版了《选举前夕》(Election Eve)，这是他的第一本也是最精美的艺术家书籍，其中包含 100 幅原创版画，分两册皮面装订，装在一个亚麻盒子里。该书由纽约 Caldecot Chubb 出版，仅发行了五版，从此成为埃格尔斯顿最稀有的收藏书籍。这个新的 Steidl 版本在一个卷中重新创建了完整的原始照片序列，使其首次向更广泛的公众开放。
