影迹 (YING JI)

MYR 80.00
影迹 Ying Ji is not intended as a statement about the world, but rather a quiet record of a photographer’s search, following traces, shadows, and fleeting moments in an attempt to understand both photography and existence.

Drawing from photographic wanderings across China and Hong Kong, Champ’s first photobook brings together a personal body of black-and-white images that moves between observation and introspection. The work reflects an ongoing process of looking: at places, at people, and ultimately at oneself.

影迹 is more than a collection of black-and-white photographs. It offers a glimpse into Champ’s way of seeing, close, instinctive, and constantly searching for traces within ordinary moments.

For collectors of contemporary photography, 影迹 is an intimate first publication from a photographer whose visual language is still evolving.

If you are drawn to raw monochrome photography, close-up perspectives, everyday life, and photobooks that reveal a photographer’s personal way of looking, 影迹 is worth spending time with.

About the Photographer

Champ Tung is a photographer based in Kuala Lumpur who does not want his photography to be defined as Kuala Lumpur-based. His first photobook, 影迹 (Ying Ji), captures everyday life in China through mundane moments.

Besides his distinctive love for monochrome, his photography is synonymous with capturing subjects up close, often using a wide-angle lens. His past experience as a diver has also influenced his sensitivity to light, movement, and shadows.

He hopes that, while looking at his photographs, readers and spectators will experience the same adrenaline he felt when taking them, and experience how he traces the shadows.
