The Other Side Of The Window
In 'The Other Side of the Window,' Kazuhei Kimura's showcases works taken between 2016 and 2020. Kimura refers to the conceptual role of mirrors and windows in photography, and uses the 'window' as metaphor for life, describing the invisible window that occasionally lies between him and his subject. He believes that "photography reveals the existence of this glass, albeit quietly," and—although it may feel depressive—a certain brightness can be brought out through distance.
'The Other Side of the Window' is also a reflection of Kimura's relationship with photography. Unlike some photographers, Kimura does not always carry his camera with him, nor does he feel the need to record everything. However, he cannot live without his camera, and the making of this photobook made him think about what his photographs mean to him.
