Zarif Ismail's ‘Rekah Fajar’ ('Rift of First Light') is a book composed of 46 coming-of-age images—of a profound journey, of whom has yet to reach his prime; of whom yearns to understand life; of whom is young like a playful child who fights sleep; of whom learns to be well-mannered; and of whom is ready to bloom.
The book's duotone printing highlights the quality of Zarif's silver gelatin prints, and aides in luring us into his memories.
The production of Zarif Ismail’s debut photobook was supported by the 2022 Zontiga Photobook Grant and is the first photobook project undertaken by Zontiga.

The book comes in two editions:
1) Regular Edition –
- One (1) copy of 'Rekah Fajar'
2) Special Edition –
- One (1) signed copy of 'Rekah Fajar' in a handmade linen book sleeve
- One (1) signed made-to-order* silver gelatin print on Ilford 8x10" Resin Coated (RC) paper by Zarif Ismail (print to be selected by the individual)
- Books limited to 30 copies (numbered from 3 - 33)
