Precious Patch of Sky
Precious Patch of Sky
What does it mean to hold onto a moment that has already begun to pass?
Precious Patch of Sky is a small-format photobook by Zac Tan, drawing from his photographic archives from 2024. Through ordinary encounters, quiet spaces, and fleeting moments, the book traces a way of seeing that finds something romantic, mysterious, and deeply felt in the everyday.
Shaped by a longing to feel close to the world while remaining at a comfortable distance, the photographs capture the tension between intimacy and detachment, presence and absence. Windows and portals recur throughout the book, creating openings between looking and dreaming, waiting and remembering, and the moments that slip beyond our reach.
Opening with a window framing a burning sun, the book becomes a small vessel for a world much larger than itself, a tender attempt to hold what cannot quite be kept.
Its thoughtful physical form echoes the images within. A die-cut window cover, open spine binding, and neon coral page edges turn this intimate publication into an object to be held, explored, and revisited.
Published in a limited edition of 500 copies, Precious Patch of Sky is a quiet reflection on the passage of time, the distance between ourselves and the world, and the beauty of what we encounter along the way.
