Objects, Lines, and Gradually Seeing Shadows 物件,线条,之后渐渐看见影子

MYR 265.00

Not everything we see needs to be remembered.
Sometimes, it is enough that, in the act of looking, something quietly connects.

In her third photobook, Zhu deepens her long-standing meditation on perception and time. The frames are wider now. The spaces breathe. Distance replaces immediacy, and restraint replaces urgency. Rather than asking what we are looking at, the work gently asks how we are looking.

Composed from a year of daily walks and journeys abroad, the book unfolds without narrative. City streets, open roads, countryside pauses, each image feels like a suspended fragment. The sequencing moves with a slow rhythm, like a sheet of paper drifting downward, attentive to light, stillness, and the subtle delay between one moment and the next.

Human figures appear, but they do not dominate. The true subject is atmosphere the air between things, the quiet shift between object and shadow. Two short texts frame the work as a prelude and coda, guiding the reader from “object” to “line,” and gradually toward shadow toward a deeper awareness of form and presence.

Objects, Lines, and Gradually Seeing Shadows does not seek resolution. It offers no thesis, no spectacle. Instead, it creates space for wandering, for reflection, for noticing what might otherwise remain peripheral.

For collectors of contemplative contemporary photography and readers drawn to slow, perceptual image making, this book becomes less something to consume and more something to inhabit.

It may not tell you how to see.
But it invites you to walk without urgency, without destination and to discover your own way of looking.
